ME-Train Photos by Michael Williamson Neg#00000 3/27/02: After being passed up by at least two different Metro trains (the trains just just went by without even stopping..causing frustration among those waiting), this man decided to stick his thumb out, hitch-hiking style in the hopes that a train would stop. It seemed to work as the train that was approaching when he stuck out his thumb did in fact stop and let the passengers board toward downtown at the Bethesda station.There were many delays due to a derailment nearby.

Families are responding to the marketing strategy but some safety experts wonder if all this high tech gadgetry can be a growing distraction for drivers and, like cellphone usage, slow travel times even more.
