Mechanics work on a Cessna Grand Caravan at the German Olano de Palanquero air base in Puero Salgar in central Colombia. The country's most important air base, German Olano will soon house American servicemen and aircraft as part of a new strategic accord between Bogota and Washington. American surveillance planes, among them the AWAC and P-3, will be based at German Olano, and authorities are also upgrading the base for the landing of the big C-17 transport. The mechanics pictured working on the Grand Caravan were preparing it for flight the next day. This particular plane is used to move wounded soldiers.
