Near Palangkaraya, Borneo, Indonesia Advance story on the topic of climate change, global warming, around the globe. Deforestation from logging, a failed mega-rice project and now palm oil plantations are causing endangered Orangutans to lose their native habitat. Forests are slashed and burned leaving orphaned orangutans to the mercy of plantation growers or to black market sales. Nyaru Menteng, an Orangutan rehabilitation center has almost 600 of these rescued creatures at their center near Palangkara. PICTURED: Lone Drscher Nielsen, founder and manager of Nyaru Menteng.
