Family life has been put on hold for many asians and asian-americans in the washington region as they worry about their loved ones in china and taiwan. both huang and her husband had trips scheduled to china and taiwan to visit family this summer, but they cancelled travel. huang will even miss her high school reunion in beijing in august - she hadn't seen many classmates since 1967. (R) Qiuhui Huang and her husband Dr. Joe Giam sit next to a a box of surgical masks that she got . Both of them have been calling relatives constanly to check on them becuase of the SARS epidemic in Asia.
